Someone requested "This magic Moment/Dance With Me" last Friday night on my radio show - never heard Rick's take on these - ow wow!!! Really amazing version of these Drifters hits.

Really really good - - is there a shorter version other than the 7:14 version? Anyone know some history as to why he chose these two to put out?

Rick James grew up during the era when the Drifters were at the height of the popularity, the late 50s & early 60s.

In 1989, Warner Bros. released the cd ROCK, RHYTHM & BLUES, produced by Richard Perry. It had current recording stars doing remakes of songs from the 50s and 60s. Besides Rick, the album featured Chaka Khan, the Pointer Sisters, and El DeBarge, among others.

On the cd, Rick's medley clocks in at 4:01.
