Interesting article. Thank you for posting, Marv. I did notice it said Cindy was from Delaware? I thought she was from Trenton, NJ?

Sherrie Payne did not write One Night Only. Cindy was born in Mount Holly NJ and raised in Camden NJ. Cindy recorded High Inergy. I thought Susaye was only on one or two songs.

You are welcome. Luke has it right. Cindy was born in Mount Holly and grew up and went to school in Camden, NJ.

Thanks for the clarification, Luke. Camden! I guess I don't know my New Jersey geography very well! LOL!

Just remember , when it comes to Camden, it is right across the Delaware River from Philly where you'll find Patti LaBelle! LOL! I remember Camden well.

Really lockhartgary?. My experiences with Camden were mostly in the mid-80s. I use to work in Cherry Hill and Marlton.

And don't forget the Latin Casino! I first saw Joan Rivers there in '73 [[John Davidson opened for her). I was born in Philly and raised in Ventnor [[near AC).

How about the Race Track Circle? I had a birthday party over there once.

Who could forget the Latin Casino? Everyone played there. Is Ventnor off the Black Horse Pike?

Susaye is on more than 2 tracks on HE. obviously she does lead on the title track and then there's her singing on IGLMHDTW. But if you listen to the unreleased Ralph Terranna tracks on the Let Yourself Go set, you clearly hear her singing background on more of the songs. I Don't Want To Lose You and Til The Boat Sails Away.

reading the liner notes to the Let Yourself Go set, according to the recording dates listed, much of the background work was done in Feb AFTER Cindy left the group. of course it's certainly possible that the dates are incomplete. I'm only hypothesizing but I wonder if it's actually Cindy that's only one a little bit of HE and Susaye is on the majority?

IGLMHDTW? I love reading these posts, but sometimes it's difficult understanding the abbreviations. Thanks

Yes, it's on Absecon Island just south of AC. Y'know, like in Monopoly!

I only ever went to the Cherry Hill, NJ location. This is very close to Philadelphia, not Atlantic City.

Woodward, he meant his hometown of Ventnor, NJ is near Atlantic City. Yes the Latin Casino was in Cherry Hill.

From what I've been told, some of those dates are incorrect. Susaye did leads for "High Energy" and "I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walking" and I do hear her on the Russ Terrana mix of "I Don't Want To Lose You," but she's not on "Til The Boat Sails Away" or anything else. It's Cindy all over the album. That album was just about completed with Cindy...background vocal wise at least.

This is my fav Sups project. Susaye outdid herself on HE. That song still holds up today. MSS was real good too; in a sense I didn't view them as "The Supremes". Man I always wondered if they recorded any songs for a follow up.

I agree. You could play High Energy right now and it sounds as good and contemporary as it did 40 years ago in 1976!
