I agree. Someone confused Jerry Green for Joe Stubbs who Dennis had replaced.

FANTASTIC! That one show had the greatest part of The Contours' career. Too bad they didn't also sing the Dennis lead version of "Baby Hit and Run"!

Yes. Say no more.
Except.. Billy had gone by now. Council Gay is in the line-up.

This is one of my favourites. The song is like tailor-made for Jimmy Ruffin.
Thank you, Marv!

The first time I heard this song I actually thought it might have been Jimmy Ruffin even though his voice and Dennis' were nothing alike. It was that formulaic Weatherspoon-Dean song which threw me off. They wrote some great stuff, no argument, but a lot of it sounded awfully alike.

Yep, the big giveaway was a Dean-Weatherspoon song nearly always started with the chorus before the first verse kicked in. But, yes, their tunes weren't without appeal, and they were certainly busy boys in the studio.

This video was on another forum, together with one, on the same 'session', with the group miming to "just a little misunderstanding'.
However the lead vocal on the 45 was Joe Stubbs. The 'lead' was mimed by the guy who is in the middle of the 3 members..I.e. Joe Stubbs vocal was mimed by another singer.
Who is the singer in the middle..the smaller thin guy?

Larry: See the thread on Just a little misunderstanding. There's plenty of confusion on there!

Bit late to the party here but love the Contours video, it’s a rare one alright. Since the first time I heard this track I have been amused by Dennis whistling accidentally about 25 seconds in. How did it get through QC? Did they think no one would notice?

Still a great great tune though.

My favorite Contours track and I had never seen this video either. Knowing what we know now, I wonder if the group really did the background vocals. Sounds like there was at least a little "femininity" in there somewhere..........

Jerry Green. He took all the Joe Stubbs leads.
