Ben l'Oncle Soul [[born Benjamin Duterde, on 10 November 1984 in Tours - France) is a French [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France) soul [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_music) singer-songwriter [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singer-songwriter).

After graduating in 2004, he started singing in a gospel [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_music) group called Fitiavana. He often wears a bow tie like Uncle Ben from Uncle Ben's Rice [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Ben%27s_Rice). His friends called him "l'Oncle Ben", but he decided to change it in 2009, shortly before the release of his first EP [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_play), Soul Wash: Lesson 1, to avoid copyright problems. His eponymous debut album [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_l%27Oncle_Soul_[[album)) was released by Motown Records [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motown_Records) in 2010.

On 25 June 2011, Ben L'Oncle Soul opened the 32nd edition of the Montreal Jazz Festival [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Jazz_Festival) in a major free concert in front of more than 10,000 people at the Scène TD de la place des Festivals in the heart of Montreal. The concert was his third appearance in Montreal having performed at the 2010 FrancoFolies [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_FrancoFolies_de_Montr%C3%A9al) and at the 2011 Montréal High Lights Festival.

He performed at North Sea Jazz Festival [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Sea_Jazz_Festival) on 9 July 2011, and appeared on Later... with Jools Holland [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Later..._with_Jools_Holland) on BBC 2 on 21 October 2011. As part of the London Jazz Festival, he played at The Queen Elizabeth Hall in the Southbank Centre [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southbank_Centre), London, on 12 November 2011.

Reminds me of Otis Redding. I have his debut album "Ben L'Oncle Soul" and the follow up "A Coup De Reves". I enjoy them immensely. I missed the "Live from Paris" set.

to bad, lives are some much better!! It s totaly an other thing when you saw him during a concert. He makes new songs or good covers just for the concert.
