https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rMQHDc1dmUc. I really enjoyed this and Mary seemed to a lot as well! She still seems comfortable in a "group" setting.

This was always one of my favorite Supremes songs, and it should have charted better than it did. Mary does a great job here.

Mary always sounded good on the lead of the 70's Supreme songs especially the ones originally with Jean. I Mentioned this to Mary before ----- add Can't Take My Eyes Off You and everything from Up The Ladder to I Guess I will Miss The Man and you found it.

I wish Mary would include "Nathan Jones" more often in her set. Lucy and Parnell are the perfect accompaniment to Mary. Of anything I've ever heard Mary do, this is pretty darn close to the original.

I also for the life of me can't figure out why she no longer does "Red Hot".

Wow; that's great! Perhaps you know: did "NJ" fare better on the charts in the UK than in the US?

It's always been interesting to me how acts like Mary, Martha, The FLOs [[and non-Motown artists, like the Three Degrees) can sell out stadiums in the UK, but here in the States are often found at fairs, casinos, and, in general, smaller "intimate" venues. The FLOs have toured extensively in the UK for the past 30 years with a rare appearance in the US. I think perhaps the Three Degrees are just as big, if not bigger that they were "back in the day" in places overseas, especially Japan.

Mary told me she doesn't do the 70's material here in the States because the general public doesn't remember those songs. She did do "Floy Joy" for the Rock Hall's Smokey tribute back in November though. I think a lot of it has to do with the success of the song on the charts as well as the country's mentality. The U.K. and Europe appreciate an artist's catalog much more than here in the US. Here in the US if it didn't strike it big on the charts it's not worth remembering or demanding. Sadly, after you hit your peak, people don't care all that much about what you did after. Diana does "I'm Still Waiting" in the UK but doesn't perform it here. Same goes for a few of her songs in Japan.

I suppose that makes sense, but it's interesting that she wouldn't include at least one or two that she actually sang lead on; "Sunshine", "FJ", "Touch", etc. "Nathan Jones" is just a fun song; even watching the clip above you can tell she and her company are having a good time.

In regards to the question I mentioned above about "Red Hot", I thought I heard that over time the charts for the music had been misplaced, and it was a pretty expensive undertaking to have them reproduced for her band. Whether that's true or not, who knows.
