Wonderful film and so uplifting. Al Stewart said he doesn't want to take anything away from Aretha but Mavis is Mavis Staples!!

What do you all think about the single [[I Have Learned) Mavis had when she went solo or just recorded a solo album the song was taken from. I remember hearing it on WVON around 1969 or perhaps a bit later in Chicago and I liked it especially the violins. Anyone know how well the album and/or the song did?

Mr. June: Man. I loved that song! I listen to it today, especially at night! It's one of my favorite songs of all time. The single did okay on the R & B chart, I don't think the album sold all that well.
