As a result of a Motown Forum posting on the unreleased Martha & the Vandellas CD, I decided to do a little research on the Marginal label. I found out that a total of 27 Motown artists releases were made during the period 1994-1998. They were reportedly a limited run of 500 copies each. I never realized that they released so many on Motown artists. I only had the 8 volumes of Rare Tracks from Detroit. The only problem I had with these 8 volumes were the incorrect spelling errors, etc. of some of the artists.

I did decide to make a listing of what was published. I don't know if anyone else has a significant number of these, but I think they are rather scarce since they were released over 18 years ago. Here is what I found on Motown artists.

Marginal
004 Mary Wells Hits and Rarities: Other Side of Mary Wells

123 San Remo G.S. Hungry for Love Anthology
126 Kim Weston Hits and Rarities

Missing Miss
007 Chuck Jackson Chuck Jackson Arrives

MI 001 Miracles Hits and Rarities

BAR 125 Various Artists Rare Tracks from Detroit, Volumes 1 thru 8 inc.

That's it folks. Does anyone have EVERY ONE OF THESE????

I never knew of a Marvelettes collection on Marginal. Could someone post a track list or better yet a scan of the cover?

I have them all too. I think that 99% of the tracks have now been officially released.

Thanks. Too much of the early stuff for me. I think they did not hit their stride until Wanda took over most of the vocals. But they could not help it that they were so young.

An interesting question about a lot of these releases? How in the world did someone in Belgium get these songs that were never released from the vaults by Motown? I have never seen an answer to this question. Were they involved in some kind of "payola" like in the very Dick Clark days?

Anything that was released on those cd's was available to fans......and that is where the answer to your question lies.

Fans were compiling those cds, Marginal was enabling them to be issued on cd.
