Thanks for posting, Grape.

'Essential' is indeed the word. ;)

If every member here at Soulful Detroit bought a copy, that would be 2000+ sold, for a start......

First I knew anything about this. Surprised it has not been mentioned on the Motown Forum.

I went into Amazon.com and they had one listing for it but it was indicated to be:
"unavailable."

Any suggestions on obtaining one? How much does it cost?

How important is a knowledge of French to appreciate "Motown Soul and Glamour"?

Pas grand chose.

I need my glasses to read anything these days and a magnifying glass to read cd liner notes. So I just look at the pictures!

John, you should have said "peu". [[wink)
Yes what is essential in this book is the pictures, most of them coming from the huge collection of Gilles Petard.
The text is great, too, and I know that French readers did learn a lot about Motown. French readers, but not hardcore collectors like SDF people !

It's published by Thames and Hudson, who are a well known reputable U.K. company of high quality mainly arts related publications. If you look at post # 4 from Grapevine you'll see the text is in English so no dictionary required.

No Jimi, the French book is "Motown soul & Glamour", cited by Theboyfromxtown : http://www.amazon.fr/Motown-Soul-Glamour-Florent-Mazzoleni/dp/2268068552/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452356857&sr=8-1&keywords=motown+soul+and+glamour

It contains some wonderful pictures, too.
