She was one hell of a singer, no doubt about that. Such a pity other things got in the way because this woman was the real deal.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe they are none other than The Pointer Sisters.

It was pretty early still in their career. I believe we lost Esther somewhere around 1975.

Tasha's excellent recording of "Drinking Again" is on that same LP. Clearly, Tasha was taking notes from Esther in that session about how to turn a torch song inside out -- no one did it like Esther.
