Gordy, the 85-year-old founder of Motown Records and the man responsible for signing countless iconic 1960s acts including The Supremes, The Temptations, The Jackson 5, Gladys Knight & The Pips and many others, will be on hand Dec. 3 at the Rayburn House Office Building for an event dubbed Celebrating the Legacy of Motown Music.

Rep. John Conyers [[D-Mich.), the Congressional Black Caucus and the Creative Rights Caucus are behind the music-filled affair, along with a long list of additional hosts including the Recording Industry Association of America, The National Theatre, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group.

Conyers plans to introduce a resolution “honoring the achievements of Berry Gordy and the musical history he created through Motown Records,” according to a news release.

Cast members from the National Theatre’s “Motown: The Musical,” [[developed and produced by Gordy) will also perform at the Rayburn event.
