Have you ever needed quality artwork to tag your digital collection with? Try Album Art Exchange! They have millions of high quality album covers for you to choose from, and they usually have two or more variations so you can get the right one for your needs. Just click on, or right-click the cover you want to get the highest resolution possible, then save it to your hard drive. If you don't open the larger image first, you will wind up saving puny little 150 X 150 pic. They offer anywhere from 500 pixels to 1500 pixels. All covers are scanned from CD, LP, or other high quality sources, and most are painstakingly, obsessively restored.

To avoid having to enter a captcha after every few searches, it is worth it to sign up. It is totally free.

This is not spam, as I am a member here, and have no financial stake in the site. I just want to give the heads-up on a cool resource.

This is fantastic, thank you soulster! I was checking out some of the files available and the quality is outstanding. I clicked on "Supremes A Go Go" and it is the clearest scan I have ever seen! Wow. A great resource.

One of the best things about that site is that there are often several different versions of the same cover. Some are stereo, some mono, some with the record label logos, some not, some specific to the country they were issued in. Some were color/contrast enhanced, some look just like the original vinyl or CD cover...there is so much to choose from. And, of course, you can select the size that suits your needs. I typically pick 1000x1000, with the logos, and try to get one as true to the original LP cover as possible.

Those "artists" are obsessive about detail.

The site is not picked up by the browser spiders, so you can find their covers by doing a simple Google search, for example. You can only find them on that site, unless some user uploaded their copies elsewhere.

I also contribute covers on Album Art Exchange from time to time.

I know some of you have digital collections, so I thought you'd appreciate a recourse for superior covers. There are more sites I could link you to, but there are far fewer covers of R&B/soul titles. Most people who do these scans are rock fans. Judging from what I fins on the net, R&B fans just don't seem to care about quality. That goes for the illegal downloads of needle drops and CDs I used to find.
