Our very own Levi Stubbs died on 17th October 2008. His inimitable voice lives on in all the great Motown recordings, and the later ones. But an irreplaceable man left us for ever. Play A Sad Song....

I know, I attended his services. Hard to believe it's been 7 years already. RIP Bub.

Time just flies by, but the memories Never disappear, a True Gentleman and so talented, I don't feel he even knew how much! Taken too soon.

One of my favorite somewhat obscure Four Tops songs:

I ain't playin' no sad song! Better to play a happy tune.

You're right, Soulster! Or at least an uplifting one, with positive, life-affirming lyrics.

What better than this..

Now if you feel that you can't go on
Because all your hope is gone
And your life is filled with confusion
And happiness is just an illusion
And your world around is tumblin' down
Darling, reach out
Reach out, for me.
I'll be there to love and comfort you... [[tell me baby)
I'll be there with the love I'll see you through
Now when you're lost and about to give up
'Cause your best just ain't good enough
And you feel the world has grown cold
And you're driftin' on your own
When you need a hand to hold
Darling, reach out
Reach out, for me.
I'll be there to love and comfort you
I'll be there with the love I'll see you through

Levi could sing the phone book,
and it would be great

I cannot find a live version of this any longer on Youtube, so this studio version will have to suffice. The point I was hoping to make with the live version was if you were ever lucky enough to see them perform it in person you would know without any doubt the skill and mastery of delivering a song that Levi and the Four Tops possessed. All the way up to the end of 2000, Levi was able to spellbind audiences with his delivery of...................."MacArthur
Park" like no one else could!
