Just read this on Sharon Davis's site and am desolate to believe it is true. Al was a real friend, a true gentleman, and a Motown man to his boots. I hope this is some mistake.

Dave - Brief or not, the obituary you wrote on Al is jam-packed with heartfelt emotion and great admiration. Very easy to sum up: It's just beautiful. Finally, the emotional remembrance and acknowledgement of Al that I was hoping someone would come forth with. Thank you so much. From the view I've had of Al from things he's written and also said in taped interviews, I can imagine him saying: "Good copy. Let's go with it."
