I'm speechless! This man endured so much. A true Soul Survivor.

Aww. RIP to an original Bar Kay. I'm glad he lived to tell the tale of that horrific incident...

I am very sorry to hear this as the Bar-Kays have always been one of my favorite bands. To think that he was a survivor of that terrible December 1967 plane crash makes this even tougher. Rest in peace Ben and thanks man.

I remember reading an interview where he talked in great detail about that fateful night. Just imagine being a survivor of that terrible accident. What an interesting dinner guest he must have been, and more importantly what a fine trumpeter.
It seems we are mourning the loss of a soul Brother or Sister almost on a daily basis. How sad. R.I.P. Ben, and thanks for the memories.

I recall when he was on "Unsung" and talked about the plane crash. He made it seem so vivid, so real. You could tell that after 45 plus years, he was still very emotional about it. I'm glad they ended the show with him interacting with a group of students, showing them the Bar-Kays funk!!!
