Does anyone know how well this song did on the charts ? I used to really love this song even though I think it may have been after they left Motown.

I don't know how well it did, but your reminded me of one of my favorite songs by them from 1972. It was a two parter and dee-jays bought two copies of the 45 [[there were no 12 inches then) to play in the NYC clubs where the song was very popular. Still love the song.

Milven, I, too, love H-D-H's "Don't Leave Me Starvin' For Your Love". It has a great melody, a smooth, sexy musical arrangement, and I love the tom-tom's in the mix. It should have been a huge hit. Laura Lee also did a great version of "Starvin' " on her final H-D-H album "I Can't Make It Alone" on Invictus. [[Apparently Hot Wax had already folded.) Her version utilizes the same backing track as H-D-H's version. Both versions are great.

The record fared better in the UK. It reached 29 on the pop charts and number 2 on the Blues & Soul Top 60 in November 1972.
One of my all-time favourite records.

A magnificent record that is up there with the very best. They sure as hell don't make them like this anymore.
