The Cats scored 36 hits in Holland. The greatest hit was "One Way Wind", but that song was never number one in Holland. In Switzerland it was 5 weeks number one. The song was released in more then 23 countries all over the world.

Mysterysinger, this is the first time I've ever heard Motown's Rare Earth group The Cats. Funny, I was expecting to hear a rock group whereas they're actually more like a Pop/Folk group. Interestingly, "Scarlet Ribbons [[For Her Hair)" was a big hit for the Pop/Folk group The Browns [[RCA) back in 1959. Not a folk-music fan, but I wouldn't mind adding The Cats' Motown album to my CD collection if only it were available.

Were they a Dutch group? I don't hear any Dutch accent in their voices. Or were they British [[or from somewhere in The Commonwealth Countries?)

Yes they are Dutch, from Volendam a city mostly known for its fishermen and a lot of musicians.

Thanks. Yes, I've been to Volendam many times. I was mainly in Los Angeles around The Cats' time, attending university. I was in The Netherlands in summer,, but only listened to "The Soul Show" on Nederland 3, never paying attention to "Pop" music. I do remember Shocking Blue singing "Hitching A Ride", but they were so big one couldn't ignore them. They were popular Worldwide, unlike The Cats,
