Does anyone know if or when the James Brown documentary, The Rise of Mr. Dynamite, on HBO will be coming to DVD/Blu-Ray? I don't have HBO at home and I'd love to be able to own a copy of it.

I can't find any plans to release the doc on DVD yet, but I'd bet it might be out in time for Christmas. The documentary is available on HBO Now [[now subscription needed). And there is a free trial of 30 days [[hint, hint, wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

A review of the doc from RogerEbert.com:

I can tell you, having seen it, that Jagger & co have done a very good job of explaining Brown's career through his 70's heyday. I think you'll enjoy it.

Check out the old A & E Documentary, it's a pretty good one.

Definitely better than the movie "Get On Up". That's for sure.
