That's a pretty big book, sizewise. It is a picture book or? Didn't this chap just release a book on Diana a year or so ago? Is this a reissue or something different?

I think this is probably the same book or an updated version of Diana Ross: Queen Of Motown by Mr Phillips released in the UK in 2010.

It's certainly comprehensive and covers all aspects of Diana's career and goes through all the tracks from Diana's albums from the beginning.

Great as a point of reference but it is very much a fan's book. It is only one person's opinion but it becomes a bit boring when he gushes over everything - there's hardly any tracks he doesn't like.

Publisher’s Note: Some of these comments are much the same as what’s been written in other reviews. The fact is Ian’s first book was released in 2010. He had some issues with his previous publisher and when they parted ways the book was taken out of print with only 200 copies sold. How does this book differ from the first? Well it’s about Diana Ross’ career from a fans’ perspective designed to entertain other fans. He didn't want to go down the ‘Diva’ path but reworked his first book - adding to it extensively with TEXT, not photos as some seem to think. It has grown twice the size in text to 133,000 words. The book is not a rehash gimmick, but rather an addendum to a work that never got the full exposure that it deserves. As a publisher it is in our best interest to set the record straight. So to all the true Diana Ross fans, we hope that you will look into it for yourselves – a sincere endeavor to chronicle the career of a world-class legendary icon. I have it but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. But I did notice that there seems to be much more text than in his previous book, as well as some different photos.

I recently received my copy [[Amazon had been out of stock for awhile). I've been skipping around reading various parts and so far I’ve really enjoyed what I've read. I especially like the reference nature of the book. And I appreciate that it is written as a labor of love with her fans in mind, while still maintaining accessibility for the more casual reader. I did not buy "The Queen of Motown" so I can not compare the two, but if only for the fact that the author is apparently being treated better by this publisher I’m glad I got this expanded, reworked edition.
