I see that Gladys actually married the presenter but it only lasted a couple of years. Shame.

I loved the segment where she sang bits of other people's songs.

I wonder if Les Brown influenced her with the motivational speaking shtick she does in concert. For those that saw Gladys live in the 70's and 80's prior to her marriage to him, did she talk as much in her concerts?

What a post! What a woman! What a voice! The way she tears into Midnight Train. Wow! Thank you so much for posting this BFXT. We are all in your debt. I am anxiously awaiting delivery of those two-fer CDs of the classic Motown albums to be delivered....

It's taken me ages to work it out but you can't buy any tickets except standing from the Royal Albert Hall.

The tickets are real expensive.

Try looking at the RAH website

- it's a bit more realistic.
Still, it's a far cry from 30/- to see Stevie and MR&TV in 1971...

I remember Motown United charging £5 to see the Supremes at the Talk of The Town and I couldn't afford it.

Gladys has said that being married to Les gave her more confidence in speaking.

I have been to a few shows where the talking was overdone, but they have been few. Its funny. In his book, Cholly Atkins wrote that when he first started working with her, she was afraid to speak. Then he said he couldn't get her to stop! :-)
