I notice that on the recently remastered WE REMEMBER SAM COOKE on iTunes, several of the tracks [[when you buy the "album") appear twice, with slightly different amounts of running time or the same. Why is this?

Nothing Can Change This Love [[2:29 and 2:31)
Only Sixteen [[2:24 and 2:24)
Havin' a Party [[2:35 and 2:35)
Shake [[2:32 and 2:39)
Wonderful World [[2:45 and 2:48)
A Change is Gonna Come [[2:13 and 2:13)

Also, have any alternate versions of tracks from this LP ever been released besides CUPID on "Lost and Found?"

Additionally, on what released CD is the best sound quality version of the live performance of the Sam Cooke medley?

Perhaps one is the original cd re-issue and the other a re-mastered version.
Here are the run times on the original cd:
You Send Me [[2:44)
Nothing Can Change This Love [[2:27)
Cupid [[2:38)
Chain Gang [[2:44)
Bring It On Home To Me [[2:51)
Only Sixteen [[2:19)
Havin' A Party [[2:33)
Shake [[2:37)
[[What A) Wonderful World [[2:43)
A Change Is Gonna Come [[2:11)
Good News [[2:33)

In my opinion, the best version of Sam Cooke Medley- Supremes At the Copa [[Expanded Edition)

It's offered as a lossless download on Qobuz, but the tracks are not doubled. The run times given are slightly different from both of the above [[though more similar to the Spotify times I would say).

I wish we'd get more information about these download releases - eg an announcement when something is released [[Qobuz's search engine is terrible!), when it's just the original cd, when it's a new remaster...

Maybe there's some time differences between mono and stereo? On one version, YOU SEND ME fades out, while on another it comes to a natural end.

If my memory serves me right, there was a Sam Cooke song or two on other Supremes' albums -- perhaps never intended for WE REMEMBER SAM COOKE-- but nonetheless, song[[s) recorded by him?

C'mon fans -- what was it [[or what were they)? LOL

Do you remember what the two songs were? I've always thought that it was odd that the album only contained 11 songs.

I don't know of any other Sam Cooke songs the Supremes have recorded, but I always wondered by [[I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons was included in the live medley but not on the album. It would have fit the album well. I like We Remember Sam Cooke, but with the exception of Shake, it misses the excitement of the other Supremes albums -- at least for me.

I recently downloaded the album from iTunes which is supposed to be remastered for iTunes, and I can not for the life of me tell the difference between the original cd that was released back in the early 90's and the supposedly remastered digital version. Can someone else confirm this?

The album is ok, I think it would have come out differently if it had all been recorded in Detroit as opposed to California. I wonder how it would have sounded if the Funk Brothers had recorded the music and HDH had produced it.

Wasn't "A Bit of Liverpool" recorded in LA, too? They both definitely have the same sound. I wonder if the "Liverpool" and "Sam Cooke" sessions were recorded around the same time.

Liverpool was released in Oct '64[[?) and We Remember seems to have been recorded in late Feb-early March 1965.

"Shake" Live In Paris was one of the previously unreleased tracks on the expanded edition of "More Hits".

The recorded BLUE MOON and Diana's recorded T'AINT NOBODY'S BUSINESS IF I DO. I know they were not recorded for the SAM COOKE LP, but they were indeed tracks recoded by Sam.

I am "bumping" this up hoping that someone has now discovered the reasons that 6 songs on the download of the full album appear twice. Andy? Somebody? p.s. This is why we need a booklet for downloaded releases! :-)

Liverpool was released in October, but when was it recorded? If the sessions weren't the same, I'm guessing the producers and/or musicians might have been.

Liverpool was released in Oct, 1964. Sam Cooke died in Dec, 1964. WRSC wasn't recorded until after Sam Cooke died.

LIVERPOOL was a rush job. I would think that it was recorded somewhere in September of '64. It was released mid-October, the week before COME SEE ABOUT ME.

The producers for both the Liverpool and Sam Cooke albums were Hal Davis and Marc Gordon, along with Berry Gordy on the former, and Harvey Fuqua on the latter.

I would assume LA, as Davis and Gordon worked in the LA office. Plus the tracks don't have the Funk Brothers sound.

"We Remember Sam Cooke" was recorded Feb. 25-26. 1965 and 10-11. March 1965.According to "DFTMC". No dates for "A Bit Of Liverpool" both albums were recorded in LA.
