For some reason, it seems that I read something similar years ago, but for the life of me I can't remember where or when. This is building up to be a nightmare.

I think somewhere in Martha's autobiography she wrote about bad experiences with some managers from Toronto.

Motown artists were ARTISTS , while signed to Motown the Motown people handled all business aspects, when they were no longer with Motown, they had to play "catch up" & learn all the aspects of "show business". Mary Wells told me that while she was on Motown she just had to be the BEST at performing, she didn't have to think about the count at the door, if the promoter was fixing to bail with the money, if her accomadtions or travel was set, timing ect. This had a lot to do with in the 60's for the most part the Motown acts were the best when you saw them in person.

Ok, that read like a nightmare. Also reading between the lines, Vic wasn't the only user on this tour. And does anyone know who the two Vandellas were during this period? And exactly how close were Martha and Berry?

Lots of bad times and situations for so many of these artists.
