What an unexpected but pleasant surprise that Meli'sa Morgan was selected for this episode of "Unsung"!!!
I have been a hardcore, serious Meli'sa Morgan fan ever since my late friend, Chas turned me onto her debut. With an opening line, "I'm taking out this time, to give you a piece of my mind" from "Fool's Paradise".....not to be confused with the Rufus featuring Chaka Khan of the same name. I had no choice but to sit up and listen.
Since then, I claim her as probably my #1 Favorite "who's that?" Female Artist.
Her very limited catalog of 5 albums are all essential to my collection. Most people know her from her sole #1 a cover of Prince's "Do Me Baby".
She comes out of the Chaka Khan school of singers like the late Vesta Williams, Penny Ford, etc.
Only have seen her once unfortunately in an opening set at The Beacon in New York.
