Legendary Motown singer Diana Ross is so “Supreme” that a couple of resale tickets to her Brooklyn concert were priced at an eye-popping $1,000 on StubHub.
Only 11 tickets were left to her much-anticipated concert headlining the long-shuttered Kings Theatre’s Feb. 3 grand opening.
Original tickets, which cost $80 to $126, sold out weeks ago. The cheapest resale tickets to the show were $495 on Friday, according to listings on the ticket site.
By comparison, the cheapest tickets to Jack White’s concert at Madison Square Garden sold for $66.
“We believe the overwhelming enthusiasm . . . is emblematic of both Diana Ross’ enduring appeal and the community’s excitement for the theater’s return,” said theater spokesman Matthew Wolf.

Woof...I wonder if those prices are inflated by resellers unaffiliated with the promoters, or if that's how much actual tickets cost.

That's "reseller" [[ie: scalper!) after- market price.

New York has always been her top market. When she returned to play Forest Hills stadium in 1996 in Queens, she sold out 2 nights [[15,000 cap.) There were advertisements on city buses throughout the boroughs. I think her most successful engagement in New York [[besides Central Park) was her 10 night engagement at Radio City in 1985 [[60,000 cap.). Unfortunately, her mother, Ernestine also passed during that engagement.

The top ticket price for this show was $128.00. I should know I bought two tickets in the 10th Row center [[not to gloat, I am a long time fan and a preservationist, so I get my favorite singer singing in an amazing newly renovated theater).

As I had posted at the time I ordered the tickets, I am scheduled to see Diana in Charlottesville, VA this Thursday as in day after tomorrow. Needless to say I am excited about that but at the same time wondering if the weather will impact her getting here.

If I am understanding these posts correctly, she was scheduled to appear at this Brooklyn theater tonight [[Tuesday the 3rd), and with all the snow, canceled flights, etc. I am sure you can understand my concern.

I am also puzzled by reading about the references above to overpriced tickets, scalping, etc. I say that because according to the website for the theater she is appearing in down here, there are still tickets available, even though it is a small venue seating only about 1,200-1,500. I guess that must mean that some areas embrace her more than others.
