The publication Record World began operation in 1964 until it's final issue of April 1982. Does anyone know where actual hard copies might exist of this publication, i. e. library, etc. I have an interest in doing some research on Motown advertising especially during the 1960's and early 1970's but I need to have access to hard copies. Any knowledge of where I might locate these?

Had the magazine been a British publication, you could have taken yourself down to the British Library at Colindale where they would undoubtedly have had copies filed away.
Since it wasn’t a British magazine, you can’t. And I’m afraid I don’t know if the American equivalent has copies available to view. But it is not all bad news – there are a number for sale on ebay at various prices, so you may be able to get a sampling of the years from there.
I’ve only kept one copy of Record World. Actually, that isn’t quite true – what I’ve kept is the Motown special they produced in 1980 for the twentieth anniversary of the label. That is also available on ebay I see - $14.97 buy it now.

Can't pinpoint just one, but many large college libraries keep bound copies of publications such as Record World, Billboard, Cash Box. I know Penrose Library at the University of Denver kept bound copies of all types of older magazines.
