The audio and video are really out of sync.

I think this is from the show CRUSADE '68. I've seen it before and the sync wasn't bad at all. This must be something that happened during the upload to YouTube.

I have to wonder if someone took the video and dubbed in the audio from the COPA in their own editing mix...

a lot of times when you transfer VHS to digital things get out of sync. i've had that problem with several vids i've uploaded to youtube. between the transfer to digital and then the upload, things slip out of sync.

this is part of a longer PS message where diana talks [[in almost a british accent lol) about heart disease or cancer. something about pushing for early diagnosis through checkups. i don't remember M or C even really being shown much until they start the medley.

It could be possible, but in this case, I don't think so. The Copa '67 audio tapes have certainly circulated, but I never heard one this clear. Plus I saw copies of this appearance twice back in the 90s and the audio was the same then.

It's not that far-fetched to think they could be lipsyncing to an older track, especially since this appearance seems to be rather low-budget. Plus I've seen other appearances where this has been done, for example, DMC lipsyncing to DMF's Italian version of YOU CAN'T HURRY LOVE. Or the Spain TV show where DMC lipsync to THE HAPPENING, REFLECTIONS, IN AND OUT OF LOVE, and THOU SWELL.

Isn't this video from the performance they did for the American Cancer Society in 1968? I remember seeing the actual video posted on Youtube in the past, and don't recall them lipsyncing to an old performance.

it is that video. and they did lip sync to a pre-recorded track. the audio you hear here is what they used. it's just that this youtube clip is out of sync. perhaps the idea was to make it appear not only live but on-stage in front of an audience

Does anyone know when this was recorded; the film portion, I mean.

I can't help but notice that while still very pretty, both Diana and Mary hadn't quite "transformed" into their glamour phase that DMC was known for. The eyeliner is getting abit heavier, but the wigs aren't as grand, compared to several of the "Reflections" performances of the same time-frame.

Perhaps this is also a reason that a DMF concert was used; perhaps nothing with Cindy had been recorded yet?

I don't think they gave a hoot who they were lipping to as long as it worked. I believe this was late Dec '67 or March '68. I judge these things by the weight of Diana & Cindy. This is after Cindy began to gain a few but way before her Ethel Merman look of 1969, and it is at one of Diana's alarmingly thin periods that I'd have slapped her butt into a rest home or hospital - she looks like a well dressed ad to feed Africa. There was a time, believe it or not, that she thought I looked too thin and delicately asked if I was "OK." I hate seeing her this thin.

No disrespect intended - I LOVE The Merm, but really, there are pics of Cindy from TCB and, especially, GIT where she looks exactly like her - including her hand mannerisms. Check out her in the Gershwin Medley pic from the inside GIT gatefold - is she singing Summertime or No Business Like Show Business?
Supremester lolol - her "Ethel Merman" period lolol

I find it interesting at the end with VH1 saying its from 1965. Very clearly not 1965!
