Can someone please post photos of their deluxe sets, in particular the 6 DVD's so I can make comparisons. Much appreciated

alexstassi, hopefully we have nothing to worry about. If we did indeed purchase a bootleg copy, eBay should refund our money back, as I believe they have very strict policies about mis advertising a product on their site.

YOu could play them to see if it's legit release although like CDs, DVDs should be stored and not played, preferably in plastic sandwich bags.

I've emailed TimeLife asking for authenticity... I'm dubious because the DVD is 4 and a half GB. Normally original DVD's are dual layer DVD9s.

That's too bad.

Were they sent separately or did they come in a silver glitter box? They should have been in a box. I'll have to check my discs when I get home but your slip covers look similar to mine.

Yes it came in the silver box... I think its a very good knockoff... my disc sizes are no more than 4.35gb each... Carole already compared her disc size to one of mine and hers was 6.72gb so I've filed a dispute

My other concern were the dvd insterts... for the first disc the booklet is larger than than the other and was place separately in the box as it doesn't fit in the case.. also the ink is beginning to fade

Yours kind of look like mine too. I will check tonight and compare.

I watched the interviews and things and I was pleased by what I saw.

What I saw was that it was very much a family and they were so pleased to be together then and now ~ Otis, Duke, Suzanne; and that lots of the sensational stories were just BS.

I think mine is a very good replica, as I stated before the disc sizes were the biggest giveaway... the print on the booklet is coming off too... I've only had it a day
Also upon watching it, the video looks pixelated at times

There are a few negative comments made to the Ebay seller. Evidently, they are selling other bootleg items as well. Only a few neg comments though, so it makes me think the others who gave pos comments just don't know.

The 6 dvd box Is only available from TimeLife/StarVista right.... so if this is legit, the seller would have bought 50+ copies from them?!?!

I was just given a full refund from the seller also stating there is no need to send the item back. He also wanted to know how I came to find out this isn't genuine so he could pass the info to his suppliers?!?!?

How do you know how big your CDs are? Mine look fine and the inserts in the covers are fine.

I think he's full of crap!

My thoughts exactly. Without making any accusations I took that as "can you tell how you found out this is a fake so I can get my bootleggers to rectify this"

If you insert the discs into your pc it will show the disc size. Most originals are dual layer so the size should be above say 6gb . Mine were no more than 4.5gb plus the footage looked pixelated

Alex, it's a bummer, for sure, that your Motown 25 experience had to be tainted by supposed bootleggers. At least you're getting your money back and you can correct the problem with a legitimate copy elsewhere. Assuming that you paid for your purchase with a charge card, I would "keep an eye" on your charge-card account to make sure you receive your refund like the dealer promised you, which may take a few days to post to your account. If you don't see your money returned in about a week's time, report his butt to eBay. They'll get your money back for you. [[Over the years, I've had to open a case with eBay regarding two separate disreputable dealers. Ebay was great. They came through beautifully for me. If you conducted your correspondence with the dealer via eBay messaging, you've got nothing to worry about. Good luck. Got my fingers crossed for you! - Gary

Gary, I got refunded by paypal more or less straight after his email... unfortunately it seems that all the other buyers are none the wiser...
