Interesting documentary, and tons of behind the scenes info on what went into programming a radio station, and how this format caught fire in Detroit and spread across the country. Good stuff, those native to Detroit, would love to hear some recollection of the time, and what your feelings were listening to radio at that time.

Jill, I got this DVD just before Christmas in 2005. The producer was a member of this forum briefly. You can still order it here:http://radiorevolutiondvd.com/

It is well worth it. Lots of great interviews, clips and memories of the greatest radio station I've ever heard!

I use to wake up and go to sleep with CKLW on the radio near my bed. Between the years 1967-77 it was the hit maker nationally.

Can't think right off hand of another radio station that had a song written about a non-jock. The pictures in this vid are priceless.....

At WIBM, Jackson the station was locally #2 in the market. Overall, it was #4. 1 and 2 were WJR and, although their signal began to degrade just east of town, CKLW.

Jill, CKLW pretty much united a Region! We all heard the same music and a wide variety of artists were played on CKLW 24 hours a day. The Region stretch from about NW Ohio all the way over to Toronto. This scan gives a better illustration. Some folks much further away could hear CKLW on some evenings I found out:
