Yes, November 19, 1950, was a big day for me - I was born.

It's party time Saturday with family and friends, including a long-time pal who's primarily a Northern Soul/Motown DJ.

I've asked him to play some Sixties pop, twist stuff, Seventies commercial disco [[Rock the Boat etc, stuff that made the British charts in the 70s, primarily for my wife, who loves it all) but primarily the soul that I began digging when I was 14/15 in the mid-Sixties, the Mod period in my part of the Uk that led to the success of the Twisted Wheel in Manchester, and later the Wigan Casino/Blackpool etc Northern Soul scene.

So there'll be Marvin doing I'll Be Doggone and Ain't That Peculiar; Barefootin, Walking up a one-way street; Girl why you wanna make me blue; Getting mighty crowded; It's all right; I'll always love you, Sweet thing, Baby I've got it... and some of my faves from the 70s - particularly my probable all-time favourite, the Spinners' I'll Be Around. I can't wait.

I've got to count my blessings... marriage for 30 years, children who mostly bring me joy and a full-time job [[at the moment) which I've always enjoyed.

And for the past few years, of course, all you guys as well.

November 24th is Sagitarius, if I remember correctly. My short-term memory is almost completely gone, but my long-term memory is still pretty good. I was never a Scorpio, and my birthdate hasn't changed.

Sorry Robb, I always was rubbish on my star signs. Wow, one of the legendary Tymes has wished me a happy birthday. Thanks Caesar. And Tom Moulton, your Hold Back The Night mix will no doubt be getting us moving.

Welcome to the 60s soulwally. I will be 61 in 3 weeks.

My youngest brother was born November 19, 1964. Baby Love was #1, a year later I Hear A Symphony was #1 on that date, and the following year You Keep me Hanging On reached #1.

So, November 19th was good to The Supremes and Motown. I tell my brother he was born on a good day.

There was not another Motown #1 on November 19 until 1983 when Lionel Richie took All Night Long to the top

Enjoy your birthday and celebration.

Happy Birthday Soulwally, from another of the UK members...and who was also 60 this year.....

Hope, like me, you get around to playing The Marvelettes "I'll Keep On Holding On......", because I intend to do just that!

Have a great day, and enjoy it all.....[[I've been celebrating since July...)

Thanks again to you all. I'll definitely be asking for I'll Keep Holding On - thanks for the reminder. And while we're at it i'll ask for You're My remedy, from about the same vintage.

Happy Bday Soulwally! Looks like today is the real day!

I have to say this is the most upsetting thread I've ever read on SD. Very frightening too!!!

The happy part is the you guys are WAY older than ME!

Andy recently asked me to set up some Boot Camp Classes in New York. I think you guys need some set up for SENIORS as well. If you'll fly me to London, Detroit, Hawaii, LA..........I will do these classes for you for FREE!

You'll need to park your canes at the door!

Seems I'm in very good company with the 60-plussers. Thanks again for all your kind congratulations. By the way, I've asked for no presents, but that people leave a donation at the party which will be split between the local cancer hospice and a charity for sick babies that is close to one of my daughter's hearts, founded by the guy whose hotel my do is at.
