This time it is even more widespread on Facebook than before; and some is quoting David Ruffin Jr. as a spokesperson. But who knows for sure just yet.

Im not trying to be funny here but if this is coming from sources like this I would think we could consider it to be true or someone would have said otherwise within the family. Just because the media doesnt have it yet means nothing. I remember when the media had Abe Vigoda dead and Carlos Santana and it was not true. I even see people on youtube saying RIP on some of his songs and I am assuming these are friends or people on Facebook. This is not like he was well and all of a sudden he had a heart attack or nothing was wrong. We do know he had been sick for along time and remember it was announced he was in intensive care so that is why I believe it. Again no offense to anyone here or anyone who has doubts about his passing but it is not like this was a sudden thing.

So it’s finally confirmed. Whilst not in the same league as David, Eddie, Marvin or Levi he was a very good singer whose output was much better than the sum of his hits would indicate. He was more appreciated here in the UK than in his native US, in fact he lived here for many years. I’ll have to dig out his wonderful anthology.

Yep, it's finally confirmed through the media and not just from his family.

Lord Jesus, our savior and our redeemer,
you willingly gave yourself up to death,
so that all might be saved and pass from death to life.
By dying you unlocked the gates of life
for all those who believe in you.
So we commend Mr Jimmy Ruffin into your arms of mercy,
believing that, with sins forgiven,
he will share a place of happiness, light and peace
in the kingdom of your glory for ever.

Amen.

The press are stating he was 78 years old, but if he was born May 7th 1939 doesn't that make him 75?

God Bless Jimmy, one of my all time favourite Motown singers.Looking at that clip of him from Beat Club ,how well he would have fitted into Temptations. [Taking nothing away from the other chaps.]A very sad day for me in the UK.Jimmy it is WONDERFUL to have your music.cheers
