It's always interesting what is left off from history. Michael's childhood friend also has opened about his early history in Gary and delivers a more complex picture of the family [[I haven't yet read the book but judging from what I read, Michael did have a decent enough childhood minus the Jehovah's Witness influence and, later, the J5's work schedule). Great article.
