Howdy Motown fans and Nightflight Listeners!! Martin from the UK posted on last week's "Nightflight" thread "FREE BLINKY". SO I thought I'd take his advice and do it with tonight's show. I will be airing my Nov 2006 interview with Blinky, and joining us was Blinky's late husband William....a most wonderful man...rip, William. On the re-airing tonight, you'll hear Blinky at her most delightful, funny and candid, as we discuss her career before, during and after Motown, her gospel career, and her real involvement in the film "Lady Sings The Blues"...unknown until our interview. Also I'll play lots of Motown and non-Motown tracks by Blinky. If you want a great 3 hours of great fun, great music and the GREAT Blinky....join me tonight...on "NIghtflight"...on WOMR 92.1 FM Provincetown and streaming live worldwide at www.womr.org [[http://www.womr.org) Thanks! See you on the radio! John PS -and Martin....thanks for the great idea!

You're welcome. I'm looking forward to the show and setting my alarm clock now.

I was just playing Blinky's "That Man of Mine" and I was wondering if the song was inspired by her "I Wouldn't Change the Man He Is". What do you think?

Martin

Martin Glad you'll be listening, Martin!! I don't know if there would be any connection to the 2 songs. I don't think Ashford and Simpson had anything to do with "That Man Of Mine"...maybe Blinky addresses "TMOM" in the interview....can't remember.

Though not released until 1973, TMOM was recorded in 1969, so Clay McMurray could have written it as a potential follow-up..

Hello to JP and our dear Blinky!

Questions for Blinky:
How did you get involved in Lady Sings The Blues?
What was the experience like?
Did she get royalties from the album?

TY!!!!

Loved the interplay between you and Blinky, John. It's an interview worth "freeing" more often.....;)

Enjoy your week!
