Howdy, Nightfliers! After a very long break, it's time to continue The Complete Motown Singles collection. We left it in the midst of 1969, and that's where we'll pick it back up. And just a reminder...SDF's own rossholloway [[aka Bobby Gardner) has been responsible for most all that you have heard...and is responsible for ALL that you will hear from here on out of this amazing collection. Thanks so much Bobby, couldn't have done it without you. SO do join me tonight for TCMS...and a whole lot more...on "Nightflight"...on WOMR 92.1 FM Provincetown and WFMR 91.3 FM Orleans and streaming live worldwide at www.womr.org [[http://www.womr.org) Thanks! John

Good evening, John. The heat wave here goes on.

I used to watch Elaine Stritch in the 70s in the TV series "Two's Company". I don't know if you got it in America.

Friendship Train was first assigned to the Temptations, who of course did have their later, longer version included as an lp track.

It would be interesting to hear some of the other leads Michael recorded for I Want You Back - especially the Wilson Pickett style mentioned in the libretto.

Always had a soft spot for DLHTYLFM. I got this Tops 45 at Goodwill for twenty cents in the eighties and about wore it out. Its no Ask The Lonely but a nice performance nonetheless....

Interesting blog. I see where they sang on Mary Wilson's Motown solo album. Talk about going in a full circle.

I will say that Valerie did a better job at impersonating Tammi than Syreeta did at imitating Martha Reeves;)

I had the privilege of personally knowing the late Glynna Session, the writer of "I'm So Glad I Fell For You". She was a beautiful woman who happened to live in Carson, California [[Dominguez Hills) back in the late 1960s and into the 1970s. She was a choir director at one time, and the most lovely person one could know. I have a gospel album she did back in the late 1970s.
