There is no reason why record companies should release anything less than high quality downloads. Are there many artist/albums that are available like this?

I meant to ask soulster...could you share this in the Motown forum as well? - there are some Motown artists on the roster and I think it might appease some of the download-fearing folks.

I may do that again, but I have in the past, and the threads went either ignored or no one responded in them, and the threads sank.

So far, for Motown artists: Rick James, Commodores, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder are represented in hi-resolution, all supervised by Harry Weinger, so far. There are many more R&B artists in there, like Bootsy Collins, Chaka Khan, The Dramatics, Staple Singers, Chic, Issac Hayes, Aretha Franklin, Percy Sledge, Sister Sledge, Wilson Pickett, Dusty Springfield...in other words, artists that appeal to most rock and R&B fans.

I'm tempted to do the Chic & Sister Sledge cuts. I bought those "5 Classic Album" series boxes on both and I'm a little "hmmm" about the quality.

I'm tempted to do the Chic & Sister Sledge cuts. I bought those "5 Classic Album" series boxes on both and I'm a little "hmmm" about the quality. Unfortunately, only "Circle Of Love" by Sister Sledge has made an appearance on HD Tracks. All of Chic's albums are there, though, although I take issue with two of them: the first self-titled 1977 album, and the last one "CHI-ism". The first one sounds kind of dull, and the last one sounds like a tape copy, when it is a digital recording. The CDs of these two titles, IMO, sound much better. Other than those, all others sound much better than the original albums or CDs.

If they come out with Sister Sledge's "We Are Family", i'll bet they use the sped-up album master instead of the original master tape, which is slower, and the way the Rhino/Atlantic CD sounds.

Hey! I'm an audiophile geek all the way, and I care about how my music sounds.

I'll bet if Motown put out some Diana Ross albums this forum would get interested. And, I wish they would issue "diana" from 1980 so we can get the best mastering with full bass and no compression for once.

Meh. Circle of Life ain't my favorite - I'll hold out on that front. As for Diana Ross, I'm officially exhausted and "Diana'd" out and I'm sure you know how I feel at this point!

Well, I adore her but I won't be discussing here any longer. There are plenty of other outlets without the drama!
