Here is a question for an expert on Golden World Records. Berry Gordy purchased Golden World in September 1966. Prior to Motown buying the label, GW released 45s from #1 through and including #47 then jumped to #101 in 1966 for its final release by Sue Perrin.

I recently saw a Golden World [[different label design than normal with Golden World in script across the top). The record is #EW115A and B. The label says it was produced by Ed Wingate and published by Ric Tic Publishing in 1973. The record is Stompin' Crazy Legg b/w Happy Man by the Modern Times.

Can anyone explain the issuance of a purported Golden World 45 after Motown purchased the company and absorbed some artists into the Motown roster?

Thank you.

As far as I am aware Gordy never purchased the Golden World name, hence why in 1973 EW115 came out on Golden World, but I may be wrong!

This is correct. This Golden World was a new Golden World owned by Ed Wingate. But. I thought that record was out in 1971, not 1973.

Sue Perrin's Golden World 101 was released in 1962. It was the first of the 101-110 series of Golden World and Ric Tic records, which were released in 1962-63. They started up again in 1964 with Willie Kendrick's "Fine As Wine", on a golden World series 1=47, with a new label design.
