D. C. takes pride in the fact that Motown legend Marvin Gaye is one of Washington's own. In celebration of Black Music Month, the African American Music Association is partnering with the D. C. Featured acts include Gaye's former music director, Gordon "Guitar" Banks, and Gaye's original band, the Marquees; the Marvin Gaye Tribute Bank, Soul on Point and others will also perform. Proceeds benefit the African American Music Association's youth scholarship programs and the DC Cares artist relief fund. Tickets start at $40. 1215 U Street NW, 202-397-7328 or www.thelincolndc.com.

I just received the latest issue of the Michigan Chronicle and in Steve Holsey's column Reflections he mentioned that the Funk Brothers will be performing also. The web site for the theatre did not mention this.

It just gets better huh? Now all they need to do is book Joan Osborne to join them and you have a major classic concert on your hands!
