On this date in 1991, David Ruffin passed away. Here is his grave [[well, the upper portion of it) at Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, yesterday. No, I had nothing to do with that gross-looking cake someone left.8204

That's not a cake it's the remnant of a floral display, the floral foam that once was the base for the stems.

I remember that day as if it were yesterday. I was in DC that day because Mary Wilson was appearing at Blues Alley in Georgetown. Shortly before her show that night she got word that David had passed earlier in the day. Naturally, she was pretty torn up but you'd never have known it once she hit the stage. If you look up "trouper" in the dictionary you'll likely find her picture next to it.
