Hello all ..

My copy of the new Kent/Ace C.D. "Dore L.A. Soul Sounds" came crashing through my letter box yesterday afternoon and I've been playing it to death since ...

This is the C.D. in question ..

There are a host of great new discoveries [[for me) on there .. such as "You're Love Belongs To Me" by TOMMY & LEON, which the booklet notes euphemistically describes as being "Sam Cooke-inspired" [[I'd say it is more like "Wonderful World" with alternative lyrics :)), "On A Day When It Is Raining" by THE SUPERBS [[which is a simply superb example of Doo-Wop Soul) and "Temptation Walk" by ENTERTAINERS IV which is obviously referring to that much loved Motown group and is a totally different song from the tune done by JACKIE LEE ...

There are also better known items, such as two early songs from THE WHISPERS .. "It Only Hurts For A Little While" ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykfB-uFs2MA
and "Doctor Love" ..

And the track that I specifically bought the collection for .. "Gone With The Wind Is My Love" by RITA & THE TIARAS ... which is apparently the full length edit [[with an extra 50 seconds compared to the original Dore 45) first issued in 2001 ...

As I would have expected the sound quality and the booklet notes [[by ADY CROASDELL) are great ...

Well worth investigating ....

I saw this in the newsletter from ACE but it's not available in the U.S. on Amazon until May 13th. Here is a link to the song clips on the ACE site.

They all sound great! Mostly new to me. I already put it in my wish list! Highly recommended.

Editing to say I just realized Roger put the link in his post. Sorry! But take a listen, the songs are really good.

Good package, but, it's a bit too Northern-Soulish for me [[with little Johnny Hamilton [[[[don't like AT ALL), and rita and The Tiaras [[okay-but i like a LOT of other Dore releases not included much better). I'd rather have had The Debonairs[["Every Once In A While", and "Hold Back The Dawn"), The Symbols, and more Superbs and Whispers sweet cuts.
