Methuselah2,
I absolutely love Clarence Palmer & The Jive Bombers.
When I was a kid my sister had "Bad Boy" and "Cherry" in her collection of 45's. I was 10 or 11 years old when I fell in love with their style in 1957.
On my all-time favorite list.

I remember they used this recording as the closing song at the end of the last episode of my favorite 80's TV Show "Crime Story" LOL! Loved it!

Savoy Records had an amazing roster of talent as the names Jimmy Scott and The Jive Bombers clearly attest to. The company was founded by Herman Lubinsky, grandfather of TJ Lubinsky. And the writer of BAD BOY, Lil Armstrong, was married to Louis Armstrong.

Soul Sister - Loved your early remembrance of The Jive Bombers' music. You spotted the good stuff at a very early age. It just goes to show: Kids in the know, know.

Savoy's owner was not fair with the Artist and there were money making talented Artist's on that label. There was also Little Esther Phillips, Big Maybelle, Wynonnie Harris, Roy Brown, and on & on...................................
