As Andy's late March-early April Supreme dream looks as if it might have not gotten out the gate, might David include an infrequently heard selection from Funny Girl/Disney or whatever else it might have been that was supposed to be heading our way soon.

Carole, There will be many surprises contained in this week's and next week's show. Perhaps since Andy will be listening tonight I can ask him to give us a B-day update. So glad you will be listening. Enjoy the music.

7987 I see Reflections . . .

This is one of my most favorite Diana Ross/Supremes performances. Tennessee Ernie Ford Special I believe. Visually, they were stunning. Totally over glammed, but stunning. And this was a part of their total image - how they looked. Diana looked absolutely exotic - almost alien - in her beauty. Along with the eerie quality of "Reflections" it made for a most memorable performance.

jobeterob

7991 Taken at Boston College several weeks before the Farewell show.

Thanks for the pic dba. I was there at the first show, I think it was October 4, 1969.

Two weeks before that I saw them at UMass Amherst, where I was attending school. They wore the same dresses for the first show. The yearbook for 1970 had a disappointing picture of the event. A Fall 2013 UMass periodical, featuring concerts through the years, included another picture from that performance, which I thought was better than the yearbook photo.

About 25 years later I was showing my college-bound nephew the UMass campus and we walked into the building called "The Cage" which was where basketball games and concerts were held. My nephew was in awe and looked around and said "Wow this is where Julius Erving played." Not being a sports fan and never witnessing Dr J's athletic prowess, all I could say is "I saw The Supremes here!" Pathetic, I know. Coincidentally, the first time I saw The Supremes was in 1966 at Brandeis University, in my hometown. It was also a basketball court converted to a concert hall. Maybe we can ask John Perrone to rework "Beach Ball" into "Basket Ball".

Loving the early stuff - great harmonies.

"Bring It On Home To Me" blew me away. Unbelievable! I generally feel that album is just mediocre and dull, but that song was incredible with the harmonies. I played my CD recently but never heard that song like I just heard it tonight. I haven't played my mono album in decades. Is that from the mono or stereo album or an alternate version?

My friend, Michael Mill, from Portland asked me to send you this:

"One of the reasons I am even more excited about being a Diana Ross Fan, 50 years later, is because of such supportive programs such as yours. Thank you John & David for such a special tribute. And please give another special 'Shout Out' to Andy Skurow. To me, Andy is the best thing to happen to Motown since the Birthday Girl herself first blithely sauntered up to the nearest lead microphone. Thank you, John!"
