Endless MoTown

My MoTown,
The only music in my life
The only sound that's right

My MoTown,
You're every song that I sing
You're every dream I bring

And I
I want to share all this music
With the gang and you
No one else will do...

Anxiously awaiting your appearance tonight, John. Gonna be another good one with MoTowN sounds spinning and the volume turned way up high with just the right balance of bass and treble, like when I was growing up!

This is a PSA for after the riots. It was radio - only and produced by my hero, Deke Richards. Great vocal by Smokey.....

This is a belated nugget: When I first met Martha - 1978-1980 - one of those times, she told me she HATED I Can't Dance because its Syreeta on the chorus and "she makes me sound like a chipmunk!" Martha was a little heated about it still.

"A Little Bit For Sandy" is a really good pop song. Maybe not being typical of what people expected from Motown stopped it from becoming a hit.

Yes, I think I remember meeting Geoff. Welcome to Nightflight Geoff! It's great place to spend a Tuesday evening. And you won't find better company.:)

I was thinking the same thing, Gregg, that if Miss Ross wasn't on Humphrey's initial schedule that she could be added later. That's common with Humphrey's, I think the first time she played there she was an add-on.

Tammy Montgomery was with Chess/Checker when she recorded this. This was also her debut as a songwriter, she co-wrote the tune with Bert Russell.

One of my top 5 ever!

I also am VERY impressed with how Miss Ross squeezes in all those words. I think one reason she was so effective in the studio with HDH was her ability to make whatever they gave her - regardless of time - work without sounding laborious. Ask Any Girl, There's No Stopping Us Now, Love Child all would give any vocalist a day and she nails them all. It's her innate rhythmic supremacy!
