Among the Beatles hype of late is this article in today's Detroit Free Press about the Motown connection:

There is the story of the Beatles wanting to cut an album at Hitsville with the Funk Brothers. I've been told a full album although I've heard half an album with the other half to be cut at Muscle Shoals. Wasn't it in Al Abrams' book that mentions HDH writing two songs for the Beatles?

Wouldn't that have been something!

Seems like the Beatles met a number of Motown artists:

Brenda Holloway
Mary Wells
Supremes
Four Tops

Anyone else?

Relevant transcript from when the Beatles visited Detroit [[http://www.beatlesinterviews.org/db1964.0906.beatles.html):

Q: "Which artist or musical group do you think has most influenced your music?"

JOHN: [[jokingly) "Nicki Cuff."

PAUL: "Nicki Cuff, I'd say. No, uhh... American colored groups, mainly. And early Elvis Presley."

GEORGE: "In fact, The Detroit Sound."

JOHN: "In fact, yes."

GEORGE: "In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles."

JOHN: "We like Marvin Gaye."

GEORGE: "The Impressions, Marvin Gaye."

PAUL & GEORGE: "Mary Wells."

GEORGE: "The Exciters."

JOHN: "To name but eighty."

RINGO: "Chuck Jackson."

There is a documentary "The Beatles - The First US Visit", I remember hearing John listen to Marvin Gaye [[I think the specific song was Pride and Joy)

There is a picture I saw many, many years of ago of the Beatles with Pop Gordy and Berry's children, Hazel, Berry IV and Terry Gordy.
