I just saw a record for sale on People's eBay listing on the Gloreco Record label out of Detroit, MI. The song is Gloreco 1002 and
Side 1 is I've Got a Crush b/w Side 2 He's The One That Rings My Bell. I see where Side 2 was written by Tony Clark and Roquel Davis. As we all know, Roquel was instrumental with Berry Gordy in the very early days of Motown especially with Jackie Wilson.

Does anyone know if Tony Clark [[The Entertainer) worked with Berry in the very early days of Motown? This is a partnership I never knew about.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I've never seen ANY link of Tony Clark with Berry Gordy or Motown. Clark worked with Billy Davis at Gloreco, and also with him at Check-Mate and Chess Records, and Davis signed him to Chess. He recorded his first record [[as "Tall" Tonio) for Mickey Stevenson's Stepp Records in 1960, and he wrote songs for many small Detroit labels who used Motown's musicians to record. But, as far as I know, he never worked at Motown.

Robb: Thanks for your response. I knew you would come through vs. anyone else because you are so very knowledgeable on a lot of things such as this. Tony Clark was a great singer, wish he would not have departed life so early as he did.
