John's certainly hinted on a few previous shows which bubbly, giddy partner was planning on a return visit to Nightflight- so you just may be right.

If the show is spotlighting 1967, wouldn't Brenda Holloway make sense? Wasn't that the year her "You've Made Me So Very happy" was released?

One would think if it were Susaye, that the show would spotlight the release of "Partners" and perhaps revisit the "Final Sessions".

I've not seem Susaye mention anything on FB; one would think she'd promote her appearance?

Just my three cents. ;)

Hi John!

I'm guessing Andy or George since Andy said there would be an announcement of a March digital release of a special release sometime in Feb.....

Even if it's Susaye, or Harry, or Captain & Tennille to discuss their current lack of Muskrat Love and need to Shop Around [[oh wait they haven't been on...) I still look forward to this mystery guest since you never disappoint!

Because The Temptations [[and The Marvelettes) had multiple lead singers it would not have been appropriate to change their names to "and the". The Miracles, The Supremes and Martha and the Vandellas all only had one lead singer.

carole cucumber
02-04-2014, 10:58 PM
According to the libretto, the version used for the single was the earlier 1964 recording with a few 1967 additions including the Andantes [[singing along with Annette & Roz) .

John, what a wonderful surprise mystery guest in Andy Skurow. Of course, after the fact it is easy to state now, but in my heart of hearts, I had a feeling the guest would be someone involved with Hip-O select. What Andy had to share is very promising indeed for us very patient fans who support the physical sets that the label has issued in the past. Hopefully what will be released digitally on the 18th of February will eventually see physical release as well. What a wonderful surprise. Thank you John and Andy for making this interview possible.

It wouldn't surprise me if the 4 digital releases by 1 artist were the 4 albums [[not on individual cd's: "Workout Stevie Workout; Stevie At the Beach;Stevie Wonder Live; Live at the Talk of the Town") that were part of the very expensive ITunes Stevie Wonder Collection from 2005.

I was always a big fan of Jimmy Ruffin's throughout his Motown career. Never in the 1960s did I pass up ANY 45 that was available to buy. It just had to be on one of the Motown Record Corporation's labels: Motown, Tamla, Gordy, Soul, or V.I.P.

I was so elated when I discovered the release of the Contours' "It's So Hard Being A Loser" back in 1967. I was trying my darnedest to keep track of the various Motown artists checking every source I could to see if they had another 45 release. The Contours only had one single release per year in the mid-60s. I eventually warmed up to the b-side for this record.

What I got was that there will be four digital only releases on 2/18, artist to be announced. Then toward the end of March or begining of April there will be a single digital release of an unnamed Supremes title. And though he couldn't say which, he said someone already guessed it. Hey Gregg- Yes, she was the opening act for Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. I was 15 and it was one of the first concerts I went to. So when Brenda brought out her violin it was a totally unexpected amazing thing. During the day she had appeared on our local Bandstand knock off [[TV8 Dancetime) and lipped JLWYD. So I saw her on TV and then that night saw her live. Pretty heady for 15 year old. She was just so beautiful, and the voice. Like I said one of my most favorite musical memories.

Thank you Carole. This news is fabulous. The Copa CD booklet did say 2 CDs. I really didn't know what all the added material was going to be since I heard there was only a few bonus tracks recorded during this session.
