I have a copy of Tamla T54118 but I believe it to be a later pressing. The original release is on the twin globes label whereas mine is on the later brown bar label. Could anyone please confirm whether this is a later pressing [[presumably due to the popularity of the song) and when it was released. Were there any other Tamla 45s that were later repressed on a different design label? When did the design change from twin globes to brown bar?

Best,

Ray

The latest Tamla Globes I have is 54148 "Just Look What You've Done"-Brenda Holloway. But, I think they went all the way to 54150. There was one plant in USA that pressed the Globes design much later than the others, as it had a big back log of blanks of that design still left. The changeover started around 54141, in 1966.

Interesting. My copy of 'Just Look What You've Done' is on the brown bar design label. So, does it depend on the pressing plant as to which design is used? Or is my copy a later pressing?

It could be a beginning of the run release pressed in a different plant, OR, it could be a 2nd pressing. But, I suspect that it's just that it was pressed in a different plant. I saw both out near the beginning of the run. The globes was pressed in only one of the 4 main plants that pressed Motown's records.

I had a copy of Marvin and Tammi's "You're All I Need To Get By"/"Two Can Have A Party" [[T54169) on the Tamla globes imprint. Most copies I've seen are brown bar.

Tamla 54118 was ONLY pressed on Globes design originally. So, your copy is a later pressing. The new design started around 54141.

That's the latest globes design issue I've seen or heard of. They all came from that one pressing plant that had the backlog of Globe labels.
