With Daft Punk's Grammy win, Harry Weinger has posted on Facebook that Mandre's original albums are coming soon to ITunes.

I loved some of Mandre's stuff, but what is the connection to Daft Punk?

I guess I am missing something. Is there some connection between Mandre and this current band named Daft Punk?

My guess was also the helmet - as Harry posted the photo of Mandre's first Motown album. That probably led Harry to post about the ITunes future release of Mandre's albums in his congratulations of Daft Punk & Nile Rodgers.

The band Maxayn became Mandre late 70's. If you haven't heard Maxayn are well worth checking out. I got the 1974 "bail out for fun" LP on release after B&S' gave it a thumbs up.
There is some of theirs on youtube. I agree about the helmet connection, which was a Mandre thing.

Looks like his first album is coming out on cd - wasn't this just released as a download? Anyone heard of the label "Fever Dream"?
