Howdy ya'll! Checking in from SUNNY California tonight! It's nice to have pleasant weather, BUT, we need precipitation BADLY! Almost like ZERO rain this season. Not a good thing.

Tonight's show, though, will be raining MOTOWN! Looking forward to another fine show. Thanks for doing this John...and thanks too to you, Bobby Gardner [[rossholloway), for contributing so much of the music for our listening pleasure on the broadcasts.

Good evening, John.

We're having too much rain over here rather than snow, so we're more likely to drown instead of freezing to death!

"These Things..." was the Velvelettes' only UK chart entry, making #34 nationally when reissued in 1971.

I also wonder, as "These Things....." was a Fuqua -Bristol [[+Moy) composition & production, if it was ever considered for Marvin & Tammi .

1971 was a great year for Motown reissues in the UK, owing to the popularity of the Northern Soul scene. The Elgins' "Heaven Must Have Sent You" got to #3 nationally, followed by "Put Yourself In My Place" reaching #28.

"Mother You, Smother You" was only intended as the b-side. [[Perhaps the fact that the song was to be used in Scott Regan's 'Record A Song With The Supremes' promotion in that same fall might have led to it's being nixed for the b-side.

It is strange that "Remove This Doubt'' from May, 1964 [[track) and Jan, 1965 was chosen as the b-side, considering all of the unreleased possibilities we've heard from the Supremes.

There were 3 finalists chosen by Brian Holland & Scott Regan. Listeners were then given a chance to vote. Not being from Detroit, I wonder if mention was ever made on-air that Christine was blind... or could Motown have, even for a moment, considered pairing her with Stevie Wonder.

TCMS series had some great photos.
One of my favorites is on pg 107, for those who have the set. Tammi & Smokey, and Tammi is wearing the "Irresistible" dress & earrings! Smokey recorded a track with Mary Wells. It would be stupendous if an unknown demo of Smokey leading Tammi through some vocals were to be found in the vaults. Not likely, but one can dream, can't one?

I'd have to play it [[and I'd rather spend time with you & the gang now)... but I recall that it's only a small portion. That last track on the L&F was a composite from several of Scott's interviews and radio promos with/concerning the Supremes. As the write-up states that "we [[likely Harry , Andy, & George) were given exclusive access to Scott's personal archive of air checks featuring the Supremes". In fact the next line states that they only used portions of Scott contacting Christine Schumacher.
