Maureen Gray Has Passed

The name may not mean much to many of you but to those Philadelphians here is the information: my buddy Dennis just called me and said she died on January 7th while home in Philly caring for her elderly mother. She died from a rare form of bile duct cancer. Her funeral is tomorrow[[1/16) at Slater Funeral Home at 1426 Fitzwater Street in Philly. Maureen was a teenage phenom and had several local hits; Today's the Day, Dancing The Strand, Crazy Over You. Here's Today's the Day:

I am truly sorry to learn of her passing. I have a 13 song singles collection which was not released on a major label. Her "I Don't Want To Cry" is absolutely outstanding. I remember her very much. She was a hit on the Philadelphia radio stations. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to see her in person.
