I hear this as an embryonic Ashford and Simpson song. This is not as I am used to hearing Valerie singing.

I didn't realize that Valerie and Nick had recorded prior to their Motown staff writing days. I seem to recall that Valerie Simpson specifically requested that Hip-O Select not release recordings of their Marvin & Tammi songs as Nick hadn't developed his vocal skills yet. Any comments on this?

New to me too. I always thought "Let's Go Get Stoned" was their first collaboration.

I may be wrong but I seem to remember
"Don't You Feel Sorry" as one of their first efforts.
