Mick Love has uploaded a version of "Do I Love You [[Indeed I Do)", which he said was "discovered" by Austin King. Does Austin King have anything to do with access to The Motown vaults? It is certainly the Motown original instrumental, albeit using a very different mix. The strings and horns are pushed way back in the background, and the rhythm track [[drums and bass) and the vocal tracks are brought forward. The voice cannot be anyone but Frank Wilson [[although Love asks who it is). However, it is a different vocal take from the one pressed onto the US 45.

I don't remember seeing an alternate take in The Vaults.

Does anyone here [[Keith, Harry?) know of this alternate take?

It was issued on the Motown year by year CD series but it's speeded up.

It has a different vocal from the original. It was also released as a single in the UK in 1979? on Tamla Motown 962 152 0 with Chris Clark's version on the other side.

I assume that that vocal version was recorded the same day in 1965 as the take used on the US 45. Can anyone who has seen the recording logs confirm that?

Robb

The details for West Coast recordings were not as extensive as they were for the Detroit recordings. So we have to rely on those involved to use their personal recollections of events much more.
