Hi Stephanie!

Mr. Bell has been around all the time. I just talked to him recently for

http://www.soulexpress.net/mittycollier_part2.htm

and a bit earlier did a profound feature on him at

http://www.soulexpress.net/williambell.htm

He's very active and in my next column there's going to be a review of the latest CD by one of his protegés, Lola. He's a true soul survivor!

Best regards

Hi Stephanie!

How did the interview go? Unfortunately I wasn't able to listen to it, but I think I'll find it on the internet later on. I'm glad that Mr. Bell gets as much exposure as possibe.

Best regards

Hi Stephanie!

Now I found a way to listen to it. It was very good. T.L. is doing a very good job. It was 3 am over here, so no way I was awake or could have phoned over there. A great thing T.L. did was to dig out those two early recordings. On other subjects, I've emailed him directly. It's a great thing to have these young guys like T.L. and others to support our music [[but there's always this European way of acknowledging things; see my articles).

Best regards
Heikki

I remember seeing William Bell on a big R&B package tour in Sept. 1966 in Orlando, FL. His record at the time, "Share What You Got". I liked his music later too when he was on the Mercury label, "Trying To Love Two". On the same show in '66, the big stars were Joe Tex and Mary Wells, but also on the bill were Lee Dorsey, Barbara Lewis, Pigmeat Markham, Mable John, the Van Dykes, Shirley Walton, Howard Tate. Wow!!! All for $2.50. General seating at the Orlando Municipal Auditorium, now the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center.
